2009 EARTH DAY LUNCHEON

Join the Clinton County Regional Planning Commission and Energize Clinton County on April 21st to discuss sustainable economic development.

The 2009 Earth Day Luncheon will feature Dr. Mark Partridge, Swank Chair in Rural-Urban Policy at Ohio State University. Dr. Partridge--one of the country's leading scholars in urban-rural economic development-- has published over 100 academic and scholarly papers and his work has been ranked among the top 1,000 economists, in the world. He is co-author a book entitled The Geography of American Poverty: Is there a Role for Place-Based Policy?, published by the W.E. Upjohn Institute. He is currently the lead investigator on an Infrastructure Canada grant to examine rural-urban interactions and for an Appalachian Regional Commission project evaluating measures of community distress. Dr. Partridge’s current research interests include investigating rural-urban interdependence, why some communities grow faster than others, and innovations in regional policy and governance.

Dr. Partridge's talk will be on "Building Sustainable Communities using Good Local Government."
